Cannes Film Festival
The Cannes Film Festival is the world most renowned Film Festivals discovered in 1939. It is held annually in the month of May. In Cannes which is the Famous city of France. Over 200,000 people such as Producers, Filmmakers and Agents come all over the world to make a productive movie deals. For at least 12 days in may the city of Cannes is transformed from a seaside resort of International Film Industry. Thousands of films are screened and stars from all over the world gather here. Cannes look marvelous with the images of red carpets, palm trees, and the flashes of a million paparazzi cameras, and of course the Cannes Film Festival draws the world's most influential personality each year. The visit to the Cannes at the time of Film Festival is interesting as you can spot a celebrity. The official film screening is reserved for filmmakers, actors and the media, but tourists also have a chance to watch some of the films in the selection.
The birth of Cannes festival has an interesting story of political grievance. In 1930 Europe was dominated by fascist regimes. When the first international film festival was held in Venice those days, awards were considered a prestigious issue for countries. The official began favor the countries of the fascist alliance, particularly Germany and Italy. Matters became worse in 1938 when French film made by Jean Renoir's "La Grande Illusion" was overlooked for the festival's top prize even though it was much loved amongst jury members. Instead, German film called "Olympia”, was awarded, the French were annoyed and withdrew from the festival. Later that same year, a group of critics and filmmakers of France got together to make an appeal to the French Government and demanded for a film should not have any connection with politics. And finally they agreed to it and the venue Cannes was selected for the festival.
